Anaesthesia Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities
· To take ongoing responsibility for patients under his/her care.
· To provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and primary care.
· To participate in the development of the Anaesthesia and critical care treatment protocols and guidelines.
· To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
· To take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty. This will include appraisal of StRs and completion of Certificates of Satisfaction for Foundation Year doctors.
· To develop and maintain good communications with general practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
· To demonstrate a firm involvement in clinical governance, risk management and clinical audit – this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice

Job Summary
· Anaesthesia consultant is a highly qualified Anaesthesia doctor that, provide and further develop an aesthetic and pain management services for patients in NMCRH-KC in collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care to provide an integrated and high quality service for patients.
· This will include ensuring that all appropriate waiting lists and waiting times are adhered to; that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner and that the principles of risk management and clinical governance are maintained at all times.
· Anaesthesia consultant actively participates in the teaching and training of junior anaesthetists and allied healthcare professionals.
· To take part in the general activities of consultants at UHCW – teaching, clinical governance, administration, management and so forth. This will be done by personal development into appropriate roles depending on the consultants’ particular interests and aptitudes.
· To support and develop innovative improvements within the department and the Trust in order to maintain and improve the quality of patient care.
